Obituary of Ji Larry Welch

Ji Larry Welch passed peacefully in his sleep on October 10, 2017 at 48 years of age. He was born June 28, 1969 in Santa Cruz to mother, Larry Cords, and father, Larry Welch. He graduated from North Monterey County High School in 1987 and completed Wyoming Technical Institute's Collision Refinishing program in 1988 which led to his lifetime career as an automotive painter. Always a hard worker, Ji had worked for Mel Rapton Honda in Sacramento for 10 years at the time of his passing. Ji had first noticed Tami in high school through their participation in league and high school soccer. He often retold seeing Tami on the soccer field one day and simply knowing that she would be his wife. Ji and Tami began dating in 1988 shortly after Ji returned from WyoTech. Little did they know that their love would carry them through a lifetime and lead to two beautiful boys, Shane in 1992 and Nathan in 1993. Ji loved being a father and soon found himself coaching his boys in both baseball and soccer as well as spending as much time as possible with them four wheeling, camping and being their biggest fan in other sports. Ji was also known for long winded stories sharing knowledge with his sons as well as leading by example. He has always been so very proud of Shane and Nathan. As an active member of The Ancient and Honorable Order of E. Clampus Vitus, Ji was a burgeoning history buff. He loved to camp and spent as much time doing so as possible. He also enjoyed playing darts, live music and was looking forward to learning how to fish. More than anything, Ji loved making others happy and was always quick to help when needed. Ji truly made the world a better place and will be forever missed. Ji is survived by his wife, Tami Welch; two sons, Shane and Nathan Welch; mother, Larry Valenzuela; father, Larry Welch; step mother, Tricia Dixon; half brother, Aaron Cords; nephews, Dylan Newman; niece, Valerie Newman; Nephew, Kellan Anderson and great niece, Samantha Newman.
