Obituary of David D. Young

Last “spin” for David D. Young, of Davis, California: 15+ year dedicated KDVS DJ and friend, 20+ year Slatter’s Court friend and neighbor, Poet, Artist, Journalist, UC Davis Silo Employee of the Year, beloved son of Donna Young of Farmington Hills, Michigan, brother of Jim Young and the late Bonnie Young, uncle to Lara Young. Also survived by his father, Duane Young, sister-in-law Lahna Young, and brother-in-law Andrew Rothmund. Born May 26, 1952, and passed at Sutter Davis Hospital November 27, 2017. Moved to Davis in the late 1980’s. Grew up moving cross-country in a Navy family, then settled in Evanston and Chicago, Illinois for high school and early adulthood. Self-made Renaissance Man, a Davis creator-in-residence. Part of the 1%: David has more Davis’ miles on his shoes than 99% of the Davis denizens; also part of the top 1% in miles hitchhiked. Over the years, loyal patron of Davis’ Woodstock’s Pizza, Symposium, Delta of Venus, Food Coop, and Peet’s Coffee. Generous with time, compassion, and helping others out in need. Paid rapt attention to the world and current events, helping a ballot initiative get passed in California and a vocal citizen advocate regarding a nearby development. Your family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and fans miss you, David! David's Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20th, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. in Downtown Davis, venue to be determined.
