Obituary of Betty Jean Raiser

Betty Jean Raiser 9/12/1928 – 4/3/2022 Betty Jean Raiser’s big, beautiful heart stopped beating on 4/3/2022 after 93 inspiring years. Betty was born the only child of William Ross and Agnes Lillian Benton in Santa Monica, CA on 9/12/1928. She graduated from UCLA in 1951 with a degree in Primary Education and moved to Apple Valley, CA to begin her teaching career. While in the high desert, she met and married Don Raiser. They moved to Ketchikan AK (before statehood) where she taught kindergarten before moving to Sacramento to have her two daughters. Betty returned to teaching at the Rio Linda SD at Village and Madison schools. She loved children and teaching! She was active in Delta Kappa Gamma and The League of Women Voters. After retiring, Don convinced Betty to sell their home and go RVing around the US for a year. Ten years later, they finally settled down in Oceanside, CA where Betty volunteered at Tri-City hospital for two decades. When Don died after 64 years of marriage, Betty moved to Roseville to be with her daughter. Betty is survived daughter Jeanne Regello of Roseville; grandchildren Clay & Chris Storey & Becky Regello and their families in OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter & son-in-law, Jody & Dennis Storey, step-son Donald Raiser Jr, son-in-law Bob Regello, and grandson, Benton Regello. Betty will be remembered for her compassion and empathy – you could always count on her for support and wise counsel. She was accepting of others and of life’s changes. A life-long learner, she was a history buff, especially US history. We will miss her sweet smile, lovely laugh, and the wonderful example she set for kindness, honesty, and love. At her request, no services will be held. Please consider a donation in Betty’s name to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital Northern CA or the Children’s Tumor Foundation.
