Obituary of Darice Ann McAllen

Darice Ann McAllen (DeRosa) passed away on January 4, 2022, at the age of 60, after a brave battle with kidney disease. Darice is predeceased by her father Kent DeRosa. Darice will be greatly missed by her husband of 36 years Steve, her sons Greg and Jeff, mother Mary, brother/friends Dan (Lynette), brother Dale, dog Lucy and numerous friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Darice was born on February 17, 1961 in San Jose, California. She had a lifetime love of Santa Cruz, where she graduated from high school, and the surrounding Bay area she grew up in. Darice was always there to brighten the lives of family and friends. A gifted artist, her love of art and flowers paint a beautiful picture of who she was. An amazing cook and talented at any craft, you knew she put special thought and heart into whatever she made or created for you. Darice was a friend that you could have frank and honest conversations with. She had an open mind and open heart. She loved all sorts of music and keeping up with the latest trends. She loved to reminisce about growing up in the bay area, the flower shop she worked at, the family Dairy Bell and family get togethers. She loved the outdoors, especially camping, water skiing and tending to her flowers and plants. She also loved being a home maker and taking care of her family. “If love alone could have saved you, you would have never died.” “Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.” Due to covid and travel restrictions there are no services planned at this time. We ask that you take a few moments to remember Darice in one of her favorite ways: - Enjoy a sunrise or sunset - Sit on the sand at the beach - Enjoy a beautiful view of the lake - Take in the beauty of a flower or a work of art - Enjoy her favorite flower – lily of the valley - Enjoy her favorite drink – tequila sunrise - Tell someone how much they mean to you
