Obituary of Judy Cleland Coffey

97 years young, Judy passed away peacefully while napping in her chair Dec 12, 2021. Born on the same day that "the shot heard round the world" April 19, 1924 in Concord, Mass. Ralph Waldo Emerson's son came to see her and wrote a poem about her. Married to Dr Warren C Coffey, and moved to Elk Grove, Ca in the 1970's. Survived by her 4 children: Shirley (Bill) Land, Clifford Coffey, Susan (Don) Stevens, Cindy (Steve) Burke. She had 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren who all loved her dearly. Judy had very full days working in her garden of vegetables, tulips, roses, and woodcarving and working in her wood shop. In her adult life she was a gym teacher, Girl Scout leader, Red Cross First Aid instructor, member of the Sacramento woodworker's association, a wood carver, wood turner, made stained glass, jewelry, crocheted, and all around fix-it lady. She loved to wood carve while watching football, tennis, & sports. Judy was positive, outgoing, and loved to make new friends. Her family will be having an open house Jan 15, 2022 for a celebration of life for family and friends.
